Kate Atherton is a comics artist and illustrator living and working in Cleveland, Ohio. She attended Rhode Island School of Design and has a BFA in Illustration. After undergrad, Kate returned to Cleveland and worked as a scenic painter (Cleveland Playhouse), an Illustrator (Kringle’s Inventionasium, Heights Arts, Edible Cleveland), a comics/art workshop instructor (Lake Erie Ink, RISE at Near West Theatre), a Props designer (Near West Theatre), and a performer, actor, and stage manager. Kate’s comics have been published in the Scene Magazine Comics issue and she self-published her first graphic novel “Survival” in the summer of 2022.
Kate creates lavish, detailed ink paintings and pen and ink drawings based on literature, pop culture, and her day-to-day life working at the library, a beloved local bakery, and being out and about in Cleveland. Kate works full-time at the Noble Neighborhood Library and graduated with her MLIS (Masters of Library and Information Science) from Kent State University in December of 2023.
